Belarus defense ministry: Fighter jet was chasing a bird flock
Belarus' Ministry of Defense has released preliminary results of investigation after an Air Force fighter jet violates Lithuanian air space.
Belapan news agency reports that on April 17 at around 1300 border control radars in Belarus spotted a violation of this country's air space near Hrodna, western Belarus. To intercept a potential violator, a MiG-29 military jet was airborne. However, it turned out that the border was violated by a flock of birds.
On April 18, Lithuania's MFA passed a note to the Belarusian Emassy in Vinius, demanding to explain the fact of Lithuanian air space violation by a Belarusian Air Force fighter jet.
