Belarusian authorities: deposits will not be frozen
The Belarusian government is not planning to freeze citizens’ bank deposits to stabilize the situation in the country’s financial sector,
claimed the Belarusian Minister of Finance.
"No, it will not be done. The measure is not being considered”, - said Andrei Harkavets.
There are serious economic problems in Belarus. The National Bank devalued the national currency a week ago: the official dollar rate increased by 56% - from 3155 to 4930 roubles and the national currency became 36% cheaper in comparison with the dollar. Nevertheless, the rush demand for foreign currency has been preserved, informs RIA Novosti.
According to the Minister, Belarus will present a complex of anti-crisis measures to the EurAsEC anti-crisis fund this afternoon.
