BSU Dean turns $500 salary into $700 (video)
Mikhail Kavalyou thinks that Belarusians earn $700 in average and explains this to the students at lectures.
Kavalyou: "First, Belarus has the lowest tax for income in the world - 12%. When we get salary, we pay just 12% as a tax for income. Secondly, in almost all countries of the world a citizen pays allowances to the pension funds, health care funds and other specialized funds by himself. Here, it is the employee who does this. If we add all this (to the $500 average salary - Euroradio), we'll see that today's average salary in Belarus is more than $700."
The economist adds that there are options to make one's salary bigger.
"We should work
harder, more productively, not trying to chase for imported goods but to buy
what we produced ourselves", - the Professor summarizes.
Let us note that Belarus doesn't have the lowest income tax in the world. Thus,
Bulgaria has 10% (2% less than in Belarus), while some countries, like Andorra,
Kuwait, Monaco, Qatar, UAE, Uruguay and some others do not have any income tax
at all.
