Deputy Attorney General: Halip can go abroad
Iryna Halip's sentence does not directly forbid her to leave the state.
Deputy Attorney General Alyaksei Stuk told BelaPAN about it. The journalist should ask the criminal inspectorate of Minsk Partisan District Department of the Interior for it, he said. The head of the inspectorate will consider the application and take a legal decision, the deputy Attorney General noted.
Halip was sentenced to two years of imprisonment and a 2-year respite in May 2011. She is not allowed to leave Minsk and must go to the police every week. She cannot leave home after 10 p.m. The term will be over on July 17.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka has claimed many times that Halip can leave the state and promised to give her such an opportunity.
