"Extremist" album "Belarus Press Photo 2011" to stand closed trial
The trial will be closed in order not to reveal the information "about the contents of the informational product before the court takes decision".
Last autumn, 41 copies of the photo album "Belarus Press Photo 2011" were arrested at the Lithuanian-Belarusian border - the customs officers confiscated the albums. Previously, these albums were transported to Belarus officially, with all the necessary documentation. On April 5, 2013, one of the contest organizers Julia Darashkevich received a letter from KGB, according to which, "the album contains purposefully deviated speculations about the life in the Republic of Belarus, which have nothing to do with the reality", and the album "humiliates the national dignity". The album has been considered to have extremist character, according to the experts' evaluation. Julia Darashkevich was summoned to the Ashmyany district court for April 17, 2013.
Darashkevich writes in the social networks that they let her copy the text of the album's expertise. It turns out that they found extremism even in the columns "Sports" and "Nature".
