Minsk-Warsaw train corruption drama reveals no charges yet
The train's officer-in-charge and a conductor are being treated as suspects, says Ruslan Makaruk, the head of Investigations Committee in Brest region.
The two are suspected of repeated and premeditated embezzlement and office abuse, reports nn.by. They are still facing investigating procedures.
The officer-in-charge and a conductor of the Minsk-Warsaw train were detained along with 10 passengers in the car No 4 after the law-enforcement agencies had received a tip-off about corruption practices on this route.
The passengers without valid tickets were later released after they had filed their explanations. But the train officials were caught red-handed possessing unregistered almost 500 USD and 30 EUR they had collected from the passengers traveling at a lower cost but with no tickets. The scheme known by regular travellers between Minsk and Warsaw had existed for years, hardly without the knowledge of law-enforcement agencies.
