Viktar Malisheuski: "The undecided decide everything at the election"
This election breaks the record with regard to the number of people who are going to decide on the country's destiny at the last moment.
People's moods are sure to change from election to election - there
are "autumn upheavals" or "winter depressions" and other individual
periods of belief in a better destiny. However, this time the number of
people who are still undecided with regard to who they will vote for
reached its peak, according to the poll results of both state and
independent sociologists.
"There is a saying
that the undecided decide everything at the elections. The undecided
are people who take their decisions in the voting cabin. It's
interesting because now the politicians should work with this very
group, as everything will depend on which side they choose", - says a well-known blogger and journalist Viktar Malisheuski:
How
many such people are there? According to the data provided by the
President's informational-analytical center, at the moment of November
2, 67,8% of citizens are ready to vote for Aliaksandr Lukashenka,
opposition's rating is - 1%, and those who are still undecided - 31%.
That's a lot, that's one third of the population.
According to the research conducted by the independent sociologists
IISEPS, 44% are ready to vote for the current President, and those who
are still undecided make 33%, which is 10% less than those who will vote
for Lukashenka, and much more than those who will vote for the
opposition. As Nyaklyaeu's rating, for instance, is 7,7%.
Viktar Malisheuski: “If
we compare this year with 1994, we'll see that the number of undecided
was 7-11% then, there was no uncertainty with regard to whom to vote
for, and now there is such uncertainty. As for 2006, the number of
undecided was twice less than now”.
Lukashenka'2010 loses his positions in comparison with
Lukashenka'2006 by 13,6%, while Nyaklyaeu loses precisely half of the
votes to Milinkevich. The opposition on the whole loses about 10%, and
the authorities as well.
“It seemed
to work well: the election is coming - then increase salaries, give
students additional scholarships, and your rating will go up rapidly.
However, this does not work anymore - people understand it will be
nullified by devaluation after the New Year", - says political scientist Jury Chavusau.
Thus,
people have lost their trust both in Lukashenka and the opposition,
they are looking for new politicians in the opposition whom they would
vote for, and cannot find any.
Viktar Malisheuski: “It is most likely these people will
choose the politician who will be winning, to their opinion. I mean, if
the opposition convince people they will win, the people will vote for
the opposition. If the President convinces them of the same - they will
vote for the President. Or they just won't go to the election.”
