Russia says 53% of Belarusian cheese hazardous
Rosselkhoznadzor said that most of Belarusian cheese supplied to Russia, does not meet the requirements of technical regulations of the Customs Union.
This year, in 20 out of 91 shipments of the Belarusian cheese, Russian experts found exceeding number of preservatives. The website of the agency reports that dangerous products are manufactured in the branches of Rahachou based "Malochnaya Kampaniya" "Navahrudskiya Dary" and Slutsk cheese-making plant.
Overall, there were checked 360 tons of cheese. More than 190 tons had the excess concentration of sodium nitrate preservative E251. Thus, 53% of Belarusian cheese did not meet the technical regulations of the Customs Union.
The Russian side claims that Belarusian producers did not correct the violations. So now, the products of these enterprises in Russia can be imported only after being studies in the Russia accredited laboratory.
Among the companies that have produced bad quality cheese were also Luban and Kapyl branches of the Slutsk cheese-making plant, the OJSC "Belavezhskiya syry."
