Supreme Court wants to withhold licenses from DUI drivers for life
The Supreme Court of Belarus today is revieing a proposal to withhold driver's license for life. This punishment is proposed for a repeated driving under influence of alcohol within one year, reports Interfax. The chairman of the court, Valiantsin Sukala, also said the Supreme Court would demand courts to be tougher against DUI drivers. He wants that a maximum fine of $9000 be paid for driving under influence repeatedly.
In the first six months of 2008, Belarus courts ordered administrative punishments to almost 22,000 people who drived under the influence of alcohol or gave their vehicles to drunk drivers.
