Uladzіmіr Syamashka: Belarus “is fighting” for free gas
Belarus “is fighting” for the right to buy gas for 140 dollars per one thousand cubic metres in 2009, the vice Prime Minister Uladzimir Syamashka informed journalists about it after a meeting of the National council on labour and social issues on December 19.
"It would be reasonable and we have arguments in favour of it”, - he said. – We think that if the oil price has dropped by three or four times in our country, it is silly to increase the gas price by three or four times”.
Syamashka said that the decision of the Russian government to increase the domestic gas price by 5% instead of 25% was an argument in favour of Belarus’s position.
