US ambassador expected in Minsk within 12 months
U.S. Charge d'Affaires Jenifer Moore has noted improvement in the relations between Minsk and Washington.
American diplomats on August 7 laid flowers on the grave of American Ruth Waller. The young woman died in Minsk in 1946. During the ceremony, U.S. Charge d’Affairs Jenifer Moore expressed hope that in a year the flowers would be laid by the U.S. Ambassador.
“I am hoping that the U.S. Ambassador will fulfill this honorable duty next year. It will reflect the improvement of relations between our countries and peoples. Ruth Waller embodies the best qualities that Americans possess: they are ready to give up their lives to improve the place they live in and to improve the life of people around them,” Jenifer Moore said.
She also stressed the importance of the US humanitarian assistance to Belarus. "I am proud of the fact that the United States is the biggest humanitarian donor in Belarus continuing the work done by Ruth Waller. The assistance is rendered by the government and private charitable foundations.”
