137 people repeatedly detained for drunk driving in Belarus

On Wednesday, Minsk court confiscated a Fiat from one of such drivers. This was the first case since the law on car confiscation from drunk drivers came into force.

Minsk driving inspectorate sent similar documents regarding 10 more repeaters to the Investigatory Committee. These are real candidates for car confiscation. However, the driving inspectors do not exclude that the annual number of drunk drivers will increase after analysis of the statistics of detentions.

The amendments in the Belarusian legislation, according to which drivers may lose their cars in case of repeated detention for drunk driving within a year, came into force on October 24. Three days have passed and the traffic inspectors claim there have become less drunk drivers already. Previously, about 100 people were detained around the country per day. These days, the number has decreased to 60-70 people, BELTA informs.
