200 Brazilian teachers injured during dispersal of peaceful demonstration
Teachers are protesting against the pension reform suggested by the authorities.
Teachers clashed with the police during a peaceful protest action in Curitiba, Brazil. At least 213 people were injured, the TV channel Dozhd reports.
The people are protesting against the pension reform suggested by the authorities of the Brazilian state of Paraná. The reform is aimed at reducing the budget expenses on pensions and deducting the money right form teachers’ wages. Teachers consider it to be a direct blow to their pension system.
Protesters approached the building of the general court. The authorities sent the riot police that used tear gas, water cannons and rubber bullets against them.
The confrontation took more than 2 hours. Seven people were detained and 20 policeman were injured.
