Authorities stop machine-operators’ strike
The strike organized by machine-operators from the co-operative “Varbyany” of Astravetski District of Hrodna Region was stopped by the authorities.
A meeting of members of Astravestki District Committee took place on Wednesday evening. The machine-operators’ demands have not been fulfilled. Furthermore, some of them may be fired. Let us remind you that 43 machine-operators went on strike on May 21 and refused to work the fields.
The protest was caused by unfair dismissals, lack of benefits and decrease in wages. The machine-operators demanded resignation of the head of the co-operative “Varnyany” Uladzislau Ruk.
