Autukhovich, Asipenka to stand trial on March 10
The trial of Mikalai Autukhovich, an entrepreneur from Vaukavysk, and former soldier Uladzimir Asipenka has been scheduled to take place on March 10 in the Supreme Court of Belarus. Autukhovich's lawyer Pavel Sapelka told Radio Svaboda that the trial would be open, but it could later held behind the closed doors if the sides take this decision.
Mikalai Autukhovich and Uladzimir Asipenka were arrested in Vaukavysk on February 8, 2009. They have been held in a pre-trial detention center in Minsk since then. They are charged with plotting a terror attack against high-ranking officials and arsoning a police officer's house. Autukhovich and Asipenka insist they are not guilty and that they are prosecuted for anti-corruption activities.
