Belarus is ready to start negotiations on signing of the agreement on simplification of visa regime with the EU. President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso made such a statement at the final press conference of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius.
"Today, Belarus made a statement about the readiness to start negotiations on signing of an agreement on visa regime facilitation with the EU " – Barroso said.
President of the European Commission thinks that free traveling of people will facilitate development of democracy in Belarus.
On November 15, Interior Minister Ihar Shunevich and head of the Federal Migration Service of Russia Konstantin Romodanovskiy signed a bilateral Belarusian-Russian agreement on readmission.
Readmission is a state's consent to receive back its citizens who were deported by another state. Europe offers us to sign this agreement and the agreement on visa prices decrease at a time. The Belarusian side opposed this till the recent times. Like, what would we do with hundreds and thousands Russian illegal immigrants who got to the EU through the Belarusian-Polish or the Belarusian-Lithuanian borders ? Where will we take the money to keep them here? There are also foreigners who got to us and to the EU through Russia. Now we have a corresponding agreement and we can send them back to Moscow. probably, this gave a push to similar negotiations with the European Union.
