Belarus puts clocks back

Clocks in more than 110 countries, including Belarus, went back an hour on Sunday morning.
The tradition, which dates back more than 100 years and has come to be known as winter time, has plenty of opponents who argue it is the cause more road accidents and should be scrapped.

Daylight saving time was introduced to make more efficient use of daylight hours.

A study found that putting the clocks back results in more traffic accidents and higher electricity consumption because people are more active earlier in the evening than earlier in the morning.

Physicians say that clock changes may affect meteorologically dependent and chronically sick people.
