Belarus to review energy budget
The Belarus government is to review the energy budget due to the
increased costs of energy supplies, said Piotr Viciaz, the first deputy
chairman of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
The government also plans to increase the share of domestic fuel materials up to 15 percent, including not only the traditional peat and wood-fire, but also the brown coal, shale and alternative energy sources, he added.
Piotr Viciaz stressed that nuclear energy was the cheapest known energy
source. The government has been in the process of choosing the site for the
location of the future nuclear power plant, bidding preparations and looking
for the sources of funding for the project, he said.
