Belarus will not send humanitarian aid to Haiti
Belarus will not send humanitarian aid to Haitit, Belarus' first deputy emergencies miniater Valiantsin Karpitski said in a statement. "The procedures regarding the humanitarian aid are approved by the president and by the government. If this decision is taken, the Emergencies Ministry will deliver humanitarian aid. But, usually, the country in need has to call for help. We have not received any request yet", he said.
The deputy minister also said that Belarus did not consider a joint humanitarian effort together with Russia either.
The earthquake in Haiti has been the strongest over the past 200 years. There are no exact figures, but death toll might rise to hundreds of thousands. The quake destroyed nearly all the infrastructure on this island.
