Belarusian football players skip training to go shopping
The coach of the Belarusian bronze silver medalist, the Salihorsk team “Shahtsyor” is shocked by his players. The Belarusian team appeared in the centre of a scandal on the eve of the match with the team of Bulgaria in the European Championship. “Shahtsyor” was defeated by Minsk “Dinamo” on Friday – 0:1.
At the press conference the manager of “Shahtyor” Yury Vyarheichyk showed his indignation at the actions of one of his players. He said that the player decided to leave the training and go to a furniture store several hours before the match. The coach said that he should have been excluded from the team for it but it was impossible to do anything about it because there were no players who could replace him…
ERB found out that it was the “Shahtsyor”’s full-back Pavel Plaskonny who will play for the national team in the match with Bulgaria.
ERB managed to phone Pavel and he commented on his actions:
“I’ll tell you one thing: I play according to my skills. It did not affect the game in any way. The coach should look for the reasons in himself, not in the players”.
Moreover, Pavel said the coach’s words offended him. The sportsman told us he left for only 15 minutes. When we asked him whether he was going to leave “Shahtsyor” he suddenly replied:
“If the coach continues saying things like that – sure I will. By the way, my contract expires in 1.5 months”.
Yury Vyarheichyk said that he got tired of overcoming the players’ indifferent attitude to work:
“There are no people who could play in Saligorsk. I shouldn’t have said it, but I’m tired of it. One gets drunk, the other gets drunk etc. You hide it all. And everyone thinks all problems are because of the coach. No, they aren’t. Sometimes the coach loses patience and tells everything.
Our players should improve their skills. We have 7 good players in the team now. And if you start confronting them with me they will stop playing at all. If it happens the team may start struggling to survive. Nobody understands that such a thing may happen to “Shahtsyor” in Salihorsk.
Everything is happening on the eve of an elimination match of the European championship that is to take place on June 2. Plaskonny is in the “main” team of the country. He has experience of playing for the national team - 2 matches. ERB turned to the manager of the national team Yury Puntus and asked him to express his opinion about such situations:
“I would like to see only intelligent and erudite players, especially in the national team. There will be no incidents like that. But life is life. I will take it into account but it doesn’t mean I’m going to treat Plaskonny in a different way now.
Sure, I will make my own conclusions but I hope that there will never be incidents like that when he has to obey my orders.
But the most important thing is how he will be playing during the training. So only this will influence my decision when I’m choosing members for the national team.
Pavel also promised it. When we asked him if he worried that the incident might influence his carrier in some way he responded:
“I don’t think so. I think that the coaches who need me know about my skills. If I change teams I will try not to let them down”.
This is what the funny Belarusian football is like.
