Belarusian playwright collecting $1000 to pay fine
He was fined for something he did not do, Andrei Karelin says.
The head of the literature and drama department of Minsk New Drama Theatre was returned guilty of insulting policemen and fined for 10 million roubles. The reason for it was a reply the playwright left on one of the Belarusian websites, Euroradio reported earlier.
The police needed 40 minutes to arrive when he called them and did not even get out of the car, Karelin told Russian News Service. He called them “fat and impressive” and “scums”. These insults cost him 10 million rubles (a bit more than $1000).
The playwright has made a website to raise the money now. His salary is 3.5 million roubles (about 400 dollars) and he is married with a 2-year-old child.
