CEC okays local election results
The local election was held on March 23. The early vote was organized on March 18-22.
All the 1328 local council have been formed and 18809 deputies have been elected, BelaPAN refers to the CEC.
The election was not held in four out of 18816 constituencies. There was only one candidate in three constituencies. The candidates in these constituencies did not manage to get the minimum required number of votes to be elected. Thus, a rerun is required in seven constituencies.
The turnout was 77.4%. 5 million 396 thousand people took part in the election, 32% of them voted early.
46.3% of the elected deputies are women, 54.7% were re-elected, 3.8% are below the age of 30 and 16 are Russian citizens, CEC secretary Mikalai Lazavik said. 248 deputies of local councils are members of political parties.
