Christian Democrats call on government to fight magicians, witchdoctors
The leaders of the committee that organizes the Belarusian Christian Democracy party have disseminated among several government agencies an appeal which focuses on the problem of "mass propaganda" in the state-owned and private media "of various cult practices". The statement is signed by Pavel Sevyarynets, Alyaksei Shein, Vital Ramasheuski and Dzyanis Sadouski. Alyaksaei Shein said in an interview with the European Radio for Belarus:
“On the one hand, the government restricts or often bans the operation of Christian churches and Christian confessions, using the law on the freedom of consciousness and religious organizations. On the other hand, the Belarus laws officially allow the operation of cults, magicians and witchdoctors”.
The authors of the appeal say that magicians do not offer "serious help" to people, and their operation is harmful.
