Consignment of drugs costing million dollars arrested at Russian border
The biggest ever heroin consignment for the whole history of Belarus was arrested by Belarusian law-enforcement authorities, informs STV TV-Channel. A 39-year-old inhabitant of Mahileu tried to transport 28 kilos of heroin in his car with Russian registration number. He was stopped at the Russian border. He disguised heroin packages as onion sacks.
The arrested man was a member of transnational organized criminal group which shipped heroin from the Middle Asia. The drugs were aimed to Ukraine and the European Union, as well as at dissemination in Belarus. This consignment, if unadulterated, could cost approximately a million dollars.
On the whole, the law-enforcement authorities have blocked 36 channels of shipment and transit of drugs for this year, and confiscated more than 117 kilos of drugs.
