European commissioner Stefan Fule: “Belarus – biggest European mystery”
The European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule has arrived in Belarus “to make certain suggestions about the way of improving bilateral relations with the help of joint efforts”. He claimed it to journalists in Minsk on the morning of July 9. According to Fule, the bilateral level of Belarus’ participation in the Eastern Partnership depends on the fact whether the country respects the basis of the policy. “The EU is ready to render considerable support if Belarus makes progress in the field of human rights and democracy”, - noted the European Commissioner.
He added that an increase in cooperation will allow the EU “to open Belarus for the united Europe”: modernise the economy, gas and oil system, transit system and to diversify the market.
"Belarus is the biggest European mystery, - reports BelaPAN quoting Stefan Fule. – Its secret is not oil and gas from Russia or the EU’s offers with the best incentive. Belarus’ secret is its people and well-educated and broad-minded society".
