European Union takes time allocating financial assistance to Belarus

Belarus is unable to receive the $209 million assistance from the European Union now. It is mentioned in the report of the International Monetary Fund published to summarize the results of the third supervision of the stand-by programme realization by the Belarusian authorities.
BelaPAN reminds that at first Belarus expected to receive the money in the fourth quarter of 2009.
According to the IMF’s reports, the delay is caused by a court decision taken in the EU. According to it, all macrofinancial requests should be considered by the new European Commission instead of the outgoing one. It is expected to be approved on February 9. In its turn, it will delay the consideration of the possibility of allocation of macrofinancial assistance by the commission. Then the credit will have to be discussed and approved by the European Parliament.
