Expert: Lukashenka to visit Moscow within two weeks
Alexander Lukashenka is to visit Moscow within the next two or three weeks in order to sort out all the problems that led to an 'information war' between Belarus and Russia. This view was shared in an interview with Euroradio by Andrei Fyodorov, former Russian deputy foreign minister and currently the director of the Moscow-based think tank Consulting.
Fyodorov: “Alexander Grigoryevich will come to Russia in the next several weeks, and all the problems will be sorted out in this way or another. It is just two-three weeks to see some positive changes".
Euroradio asked what could be the reason for such a visit by the Belarusian leader to Moscow.
Fyodorov: “There can always be a reason. It should not necesserily be a state visit... There can always be a reason”.
Moreover, the expert reminds that Lukashenka did not fall out with the Kremlin. He has a misunderstanding with the 'white house" or the Russian government and personally with Putin. The politicians in the both countries are always able to sort out problems. A pure pragmatism is in the basis of the Russian politics, says the expert. Russia still needs Belarus, so it is too early to burn all the bridges behind.
