Fedaruk to serve 8 more days of detention for May 1, 2008

The youth activist Dzmitry Fedaruk, who has served 10 days of administrative detention for participation in the demonstration on December 19, has not been released. His term has been prolonged for 8 days.  He got this additional term for participation in the action on May 1, 2008, reports the human rights center  "Viasna".

The Central district court of Minsk sentenced Fedaruk to 10 days of administrative detention on May 2, 2008. However, the activist failed to serve this sentence. On January 28, 2009 Fedaruk was transported to the detention center in order to fulfill the court's decision, which was a severe violation of the legislation. According to the Article 13.6 of the Procedural  and Executive Code on Administrative Offences, the term for serving punishment for administrative offences is 3 months. More than 8 months passed since May 2 till January 28.

Then, on January 30, 2009 Dzmitry was drafted to the military after spending 2 days in the Akrestsina prison.

Thus, two and a half years later someone with good memory decided to give Fedaruk 8 more days of detention.
