Germany hopes Belarus will free Kozulin
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmayer hopes that Alexander Kozulin will be fully and unconditionally freed from jail by the Belarusian authorities, reports the Russian news agency Ria-Novosti.
In a statement issued Tuesday by the German foreign ministry, Steinmayer welcomed as a positive fact the decision of the Belarusian government to release Kozulin for three days in order to attend his wife's funeral.
The German Foreign Ministry believes that if all the political prisoners are freed, Belarus would create an important precondition for a gradual revitalization of relations with the European Union.
