Independent newspaper gains suit at law in Slonim
An independent newspaper “Hazeta Slonomskaya” has gained a suit at law. It is rare good news for the editorial staff who have encountered a lot of problems this year.
Let us remind you that a local dentist Natallya Kiman sued the edition. An inhabitant of Slonim had a bad experience of visiting her which led to the necessity of undergoing an operation in Hrodna. The woman sued the doctor and gained the suit. “Hazeta Slonimskaya” informed about it. However, Natallya Kiman decided that the independent edition had insulted her.
The editor-in-chief of “Hazeta Slonomskaya” Victar Valadashchuk described the demands of the dentist:
"She wanted us to refute the information in that article and to fine the editorial staff and a journalist Syarhei Vasiliyeu for 10 million Br".
However, the court declined the dentist’s suit against the editorial staff and the journalist.
