"He has a problem of swelling. His legs, hands and face remain swollen. He is also suffering with liver. He is trying to eat some food, but some stuffs are not accepted.
During the exit from the hunger strike, he passed through 5 crisises. He suffered from acute pains. It took him 16 hours to get out of one of the crisises.
He would have pains, that he tried to supress it with 15 liters of water. He drank a lot of water in order to smooth the pains. He told me that at some moments he thought that was the end...
Exactly during the pains, the prison staff deliberately tried to give him punishment. He received at least two punishments when he was exiting from the hunger strike for allegedly violating the prison regime. But, doctors told him to remain in bed.
How can a sick person violate the regime, if he stays in bed for days? On January 23 he started feeling a little better," Volha said.
Aliaksandr Kazulin was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison. He has remained behind bars since March 2006.
