Lashmankin detained for amphetamine stands trial for bad language
A lawyer appointed by the court, Dzmitry Mironau, is defending the journalist.
The journalist is accused of petty hooliganism. It is said that policemen received an anonymous phone call and were informed that one of the passengers was transporting the amphetamine drug. According to the report, when Lashmankin was detained to check if he had drugs on him, he started gesticulating and using bad language.
The court has announced a break until 3.30 p.m.
"Alexander Lashmankіn was heading for the Republic of Belarus as an accredited journalist to cover the post Dec.19 events in the country. The reluctance of the police to comment on the reason for his detention and eth controversial information we are getting makes us think that it is an attempt to prevent the journalist form doing his job”, - comments Kanstantsin Baranau, representative of the International Observation Mission in Belarus, informs the human rights centre “Vyasna”.
