President Lukashenka's spokeswoman Natallia Eismant says there is no goal to have 30% of the national TV programming in Belarusian. What officials actually mean is 30% of Belarus-made content - fims and programs created on the Belarusian soil. This is totally in line with the Law on Media, Eismant commented to Radio Svaboda.

Information about the government's plans to have  30% of the Belarusian-language content on the national TV channels appeared after the meeting of Presidential Administration head Natalia Kachanava with the workers of Belaruskali, one of the world's leading potash producers, as reported by the Salihorsk Potash Industry Worker newspaper. Natallia Eismant reckons the journalists have confused things. First Deputy Information Minister Pavel Lyohki sticks to the same thinking.

"It is also fair to say that the Belarusian language will be used more often," President Lukashenka's spokesperson said when commenting on the prospects of Belarus state TV.
