Mikhalevich promises to surprise voters with creative presidential campaign
Ales Mikhalevich begins his presidential campaign as an independent candidate. Ales Mikhalevich, former deputy chairman of the Party of the Belarusian Popular Front, today launched his presidential campaign bid in Minsk.
Ales Mikhalevich: “Our campaign will be run by Belarusians only. It will rely on Belarusians and for Belarusians. Our team will comprise highly-educated representatives of a new generation of the Belarusian society. They are the people who grew professionaly in the independent Belarus”.
According to Mikhalevich, he will rely on urban youths as his main support base.
Ales Mikhalevich: “We see our base as relatively young, highly-educated urban youths. They are the people like use who have strength, abilities and potential for a better self-realization in life”.
Mikhalevich promised not to use "dirty" political technologies or discrediting evidence. He also promised to use money from local sources only. He will also build a network of volunteers across Belarus to back up his campaigning tours.
As for possible cooperation with other pro-democracy parties and movements, he noted that it would not depend on him.
Ales Mikhalevich: “You'd better ask other political forces. I am confident in my team and myself. Anyway, I will go to the end and will make evrything possible to become president”.
He will have his full platform presented in early autumn. Today, he declined to mention even some of chapters. He admitted only that the economic part of the platform was written by professional economists, the people from various think tanks. He also shared a couple of words about who would be in charge of strategic planning for his campaign.
Ales Mikhalevich: “There is a group of people who work on the logo, colors and the campaign in general. They are very serious professionals in their trade. Mainly, they are the people who are involved in business”.
In the view of Mikhalevich, there will be no single candidate from the opposition. Therefore, he does not see any sense in taking part in the nomination of the single candidate. He says he will have enough creativity to conduct his own campaign. He promised to make it interesting.
Ales Mikhalevich: “I don't work through sandals, but I will be working in an unsual way for Belarusian politicians”.
He plans to position himself as an independent candidate, not involved with either the government opr the opposition. At the same time, he expressed hope that he would be supported by middle-age public servants. There are many professionals among them who want changes in this country.
