Belarus has made a bid for hosting the UEFA Super Cup in Minsk. This issue is currently under discussion.
"We will do it no worse than the best capitals of our continent," said Alyaksandr Lukashenka on September 19 at a meeting with UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin.
The head of Belarus thanked UEFA for its support of football in Belarus, especially focusing on children's sports. At the same time, he noted that we have not yet held major football events. "So if the Union of European Football Associations will think in this direction, know that we are ready to host any competition, at any level, as far as our continent is concerned," he said.
Then Lukashenka called football his favorite sport, while Slovenian UEFA official Čeferin said in response that tomorrow Belarus and UEFA would start a new stage of cooperation. "I am glad to see that sport receives such support in Belarus. And I am especially happy for football, of course," he said.
