Minsk City Court confirms Henik Loika's sentence
The sculptor wanted to appeal his sentence –5 days in jail.
Frunze District Court judge Lyudmila Lapo punished Henik Loika for his action in support of our mother tongue organized near Minsk grammar school #4 of February21.
Loika wanted the hearing to be conducted in Belarusian, Radio Liberty reports. But the judge denied the motion.
The lawyer paid attention to numerous violations in the previous hearing. Ms. Lapo did not allow speaking Belarusian in court, interrupted the lawyer and did not listen to all the details of the case. Loika is a father of three children and has never been subjected to administrative responsibility before. His punishment has to be a fine or warning. The lawyer thinks that the decision to jail him is too harsh. But judge Alyaksei Bychko has not satisfied Loika's appeal.
The sculptor is not going to give up.
