Minsk graffiti artists freed with travel restrictions
The Investigative Committee said that the persons involved in criminal case had compensated losses.
On its website the Investigative Committee claims that it still investigates criminal "graffiti case." Two people in this case are suspects, while two more have been charged with hooliganism.
According to investigators, the defendants fully admitted the guilt, repented sincerely and fully compensated the damages. One of the suspects said that he had damaged billboards, because he became offended by law enforcement officials.
Given that the accused confessed, repented, and repaid the damages, and the fact that they cannot interfere with further investigation, the investigators asked the prosecutor to change the measure of restraint. As a result, the accused were released with travel restrictions and appropriate behavior.
On August 11, law enforcement officers brutally detained five men for the Belarusian-language graffiti "Belarus must be Belarusian" and "Revolution of consciousness." They also stained billboard with the images of the police.
Human right defenders of the "Vyasna" then demanded the immediate release of Vyachaslau Kasinerau, Maxim Ryakarski and Vadzim Zharomski. They said they would consider the guys new political prisoners.
