N Korean workers in Minsk
100 workers from North Korea are in Minsk to reconstruct Belarus Hotel, to build the Independence Palace and several more housing projects.
Mikalai Milaseuski, General Director of Minskbud state construction company says foreign workers are employed due to the deficit of local builders, reports onliner.by.
The North Koreans are accommodated at a sports center near Minsk and taken to work at construction sites in Minsk every day. Mr Milaseuski says the guest workers complain about the insufficient workload. They are ready to work 12 hours a day. The Minskbud director says they want to increase the number of North Korean workers up to 500 people.
According to Mr Milaseuski, average wages at his company amount to Br8 million and will increase up to $1000 per month. He says Belarus laws currently allow to have people work 12 hours a day. This way, they can earn Br12-13 million per month.
