Opening ceremony of Paralympics Games in Vancouver
The X Paralympic Winter Games have started in Canada. Their festive opening ceremony took place in the arena “B C Place” in Vancouver on the evening of March 12. More than 500 handicapped sportsmen from 43 states will struggle for 64 sets of awards in five kinds of sport from March 13 till March 21: Alpine skiing, biathlon, cross country skiing, hockey and curling. The US national team is the biggest one – 50 sportsmen. The Belarusian team is composed of 9 people and they will take part in biathlon and Alpine skiing competitions, reports BelaPAN.
