Poet Nyaklyaeu detained as suspect in criminal case
Poet Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, the leader of the Tell the Truth! civil campaign, was detained as a suspect in a criminal case. His lawyer Maryana Syameshka told Belapan news agency no charges have been filed yet. Poet's wife Volha said her husband was interrogated in connection with the case under Article 250 in the Penal Code (dissemination of false information about goods and services).
Nyklyaeu was detained in the evening of May 18 after his flat and the office of the Tell the Truth! campaign were raided by the police. He was taken to a police station where he spent the night.
