Public hearings on Belarus nuclear power plant to take place in Ukraine
The environmentalists who oppose to a nuclear power plant in Belarus are on Wednesday expected to voice their criticism in the Ukrainian capital city of Kiev. Ukraine's Ministry of Environment will host the public hearings on the plans of Belarus to build a nuclear power station in Astravets, Hrodna region. The critics base their cause on the comments made by the Public Ecological Expertise which said the project was dangerous and had to be worked on more.
Law expert Andrei Andrusevich from Kiev noted that the opponents would be able to voice their criticism openly to Belarus offcials.
The public hearings in Astravets (Belarus), Vilnius (Lithuania) and Riga (Latvia) ended with a scandal and harsh criticism over the nuclear power plant project from independent experts.
