Academic year starts for students and pupils
The traditional Knowledge Day will take place in schools, lyceums and grammar schools today instead of regular lessons.
According to the information provided by
the Ministry of Education, more than 900 thousand children will go to schools
this year, including more than 90 thousand first-graders. Nearly 450 thousand
people will study in higher educational establishments, less than 150 thousand
- in secondary special educational establishments, and about 80 thousand - in
technical schools.
The pupils who go
to the 11th grade this year will face an innovation in the end of the academic
year - an obligatory exam in foreign language.
Students of higher
educational establishments will also see some changes, reminds BelaPAN. The transfer to the 4-year education starts since this
year. This will be done for the cost of decrease of the social and humanitarian
educational block.
It is also planned
to change the rules for acceptance to higher educational establishments by
cancelling most entrance benefits.
