Action “Paris for Ales Byalyatski” to take place in Paris today
A giant portrait of the Belarusian political prisoner and appeals to release him will be attached to the front of Paris city hall on May 11 at 11 a.m.
The festive action will take place as part of the action “Paris for Ales Byalyatski”, inform the city press and the website of Paris city administration. According to spring96.org, deputy Mayor for International Affairs Pierre Schapira and heads of international human rights organizations will make speeches at the meeting where the portrait will be hoisted.
It is worth noting that Paris administration usually hoists portraits of French citizens taken hostage in other countries.
Let us remind you that human right activist Ales Byalyatski was imprisoned for 4.5 years for tax evasion in November 2011. His is serving his sentence in Babruisk colony. The EU and USA consider him to be a political prisoner and demand his urgent release.
