Ales Pushkin makes a Lapitski monument sketch in detention
Today the artist was released after 10 days of administrative detention in Smarhon.
Ales Pushkin was detained for the performance on Rastsislau Lapitski's birthday. Lapitski was an activist of the anti-communist underground movement. Pushkin's allies and activists from Minsk met him near the detention center wearing folk costumes. Ales Pushkin did not lose time during detention - he made a whole album of sketches, including Rastsislau Lapitski monument sketch. The artist is going to visit the local administration and find out the officials' plans on honouring the memory of Rastsislau Lapitski, before leaving Smarhon.
Euroradio reminds, on Rastsislau Lapitski's birthday several artists walked along the streets of Smarhon carrying his portraits. The court considered this a non-sanctioned action.
Lapitski was a head of Smarhon-Vileyka independent anti-communist underground movement. He was shot by communists in 1950.
