Alyaksandr Lukashenka: Belarus is not Europe's outskirts
It is a gate to Eurasia. The Belarusian state leader has claimed it in Polatsk where he has taken part in the celebration of the 1150th anniversary of the city.
In Lukashenka’s opinion, Belarus’ “mission and geopolitical role” are a connecting link between the two continents.
Speaking about Polatsk, he stressed that it was the geographical centre of Europe and that “every European had to visit it”.
"Having walked across the streets where Western and Eastern traditions have been interweaving for over a thousand years, people will find it easier to understand that our common pats is a step to a common future”, - reports BelTA quoting Lukashenka.
Having visited Polatsk University, the state leader claimed that every student had the right to chose in what state language to study.
