Authorities' permission required for election boycott pickets
Agitation for an election boycott may be treated as a mass event, says CEC chairperson Lizdiya Yarmoshyna.
The election boycott agitation provision will not be removed from the Election Code. However, it will be removed from the paragraph dealing with pre-election agitation. Thus, boycott campaigns will have to be conducted like any other mass event and will not benefit from the simplified procedure used during elections. It means that boycott organizers will have to ask local authorities for permission to conduct such actions and wait for approval within up to 15 days.
