Does Darafeyeva earn more than Azaranka at her concerts?
The singer claims that she sold 2 million tickets to her concerts for 18 years of her career. Saladukha doubts that it's the real number.
Each 5th inhabitant of the country should have attended a concert of Belarusian pop-start Iryna Darafeyeva. Such conclusion follows from her words that she has sold 2 million tickets to her concerts over 18 years of her solo career.
The singer has clarified for Euroradio - the numbers are approximate, although her producer counts the tickets carefully.
Iryna Darafeyeva: "We also have a map of
Belarus, with all points which I visited with his solo concerts. However, this
is not the exact number that I said (2 million - Euroradio) -
this is an approximate one, in general."
Euroradio has asked whether this number includes all those peasants, combine
and machine operators, to whom the star gives "free concerts" every
year right in the fields.
Iryna Darafeyeva: "The
point is, there are different concerts...Of course".
However, even if we add combine operators, the number of two million still
looks impressive. Euroradio has asked Alyaksandr Saladukha how many tickets he managed to sell
for the 25 years of his singing career, for comparison. At first he was taken aback, and then ... he
picked up a calculator and started counting!
Alyaksandr Saladukha: "Honestly, 2 million... It's even difficult to get oriented on the spot. If we take 365 concerts for the last 5 years, and try to calculate... let me take a calculator. I had different concert halls - for 300 seats, 400, 500, 1000. Let us take an average number - 500. So, we multiply 500 viewers into 365 concerts - 182 thousand. It seems to me that it is difficult even to speak about 2 million".
The price for a ticket to Alyaksandr Saladukha's concert is about 6-7 USD.
Basing on this number, we see that the pop start earned 1 million 274 thousand
dollars for the mentioned 365 concerts! As for prices for tickets to
Darafeyeva's concerts, the singer doesn't even know it - she's not interested
in that.
If we suppose that this is the same 7 dollars for a ticket, then it turns out
that 2 million tickets gave the singer about 14 million dollars! This is more
than world's first racket Victoria Azaranka has earned. However, this money
goes to the whole creative collective of "Darafeyeva's Theatre". There are some another expenses. Iryna says, it could be 60-80% from ticket's cost.
Alyaksandr Saladukha says that two concerts were the most memorable - the one
in Maladechna in 1994, when there were 20 thousand viewers, and the one in
Barysau in 1995, where he sang "Somebody Else's Sweetheart" to 30
thousand people. Iryna Darafeyeva claims that every concert is memorable and
outstanding for her.
Despite the millions, Iryna does not hurry to organize a solo-concert in
"Minsk-Arena".
Iryna Darafeyeva: "Not in the nearest
future. Usually, I give a concert every four years, this is a sort of a
tradition. I want my audience to miss me a bit. Everyone says that there is too
much of me, that it is too easy to get to my concert or to listen to me".
As for Alyaksandr Saladukha, he knows the exact day when he is going to conquer
the main concert ground of the country - he plans a concert in
"Minsk-Arena" in 2014.
