Draft bill of law on amnesty passed to House of Representatives
Alyaksandr Lukashenka sent it there for consideration.
The bill prescribes release
from criminal responsibility and punishment in full or partial scope of a
number of prisoners. The amnesty may be used with regard to underage, pregnant
women, pensioners, disabled people, veterans of battle actions etc. Also, those
who were convicted for certain economic crimes and compensated the damage in
full scope may count for the amnesty, informs BELTA.
Let us remind you, the amnesty is aimed to coincide with the Independence Day -
July 3. It was informed before that about 2 800 people might be released under
it, and the terms of 7 900 convicts would be shortened by a year.
It is still unclear whether anyone of the political prisoners will be released under the amnesty. Alyaksandr Lukashenka stated on June 12 that no one would be released under the amnesty due to political reasons.
