EU foreign ministers discuss Belarus
Foreign ministers of EU member states gathered in Luxembourg on Monday to discuss relations with Belarus
According
to the head of the Lithuanian diplomacy Linas Linkevičius, Ministers welcomed the
decision of the official Minsk to
restore the Swedish Embassy. They
also expressed the hope that there will be other signs of normalization of relations between Belarus
and the EU as the Vilnius summit approaches, reports ru.delfi.lt.
The main theme of the meeting concerned the development of the Eastern Partnership. According to Linkevičius, two months after the last debate on the Eastern Partnership some progress has been made. The Ministers welcomed
the long-awaited pardon of former Interior Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko.
It was also noted that in March they
concluded the negotiations on an Association Agreement with Armenia, Georgia
and Moldova. Linas Linkevičius noted that Moldova and Georgia were the leaders of the reform in the Eastern Partnership.
