EU to send doctors and lawyers to Tymoshenko
The EU is closely watching the situation with Ukrainian ex-PM Julia Tymoshenko.
President of the European Parliament Martin
Schulz has said on Wednesday in Brussels
that the European Union will send its own doctors to treat Julia Tymoshenko. They
will help the German doctor.
Ukrainian PM Mikalaj
Azarau, who is in Brussels, gave his consent for the
doctors' arrival. He also agreed for the arrival of the European lawyers, who
will take part in the consideration of Julia Tymoshenko's appeal against the
sentence, informs Reuters.
Let us remind you,
last year one of the opposition leaders Julia
Tymoshenko was
sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment for "exceeding the powers" while
signing a gas contract with Russia in 2009. The EU and the U.S. consider her
case politically motivated. Recently, Tymoshenko was beaten in prison.
President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė (in the photo) visited her in Kharkiv
hospital. She warned the Ukrainian authorities about the possible isolation of
Ukraine because of Tymoshenko's case.
